Winters are here and this time they are making up for the last few years. While most people plan to spend their holidays and week offs curled up in a blanket and sipping hot chocolate; there are some like me, who love to explore new places and enjoy the chilly weather (while sipping hot chocolate, of course). From the magical Himachal Pradesh to relaxing Kerala, there are many places to visit in winters in India that will make you want to get out of your cosy beds and experience the season at its best.

Places to Visit in Winters in India:

    • Gulmarg
    • Shimla
    • Manali
    • Auli
    • Binsar
    • Dalhousie

    1. Gulmarg, Kashmir

    Gulmarg

First up on our list is Gulmarg. This hill town nestled in the northern-most state of India is magical all-year-round, but its charm is enhanced upon the arrival of winters. The snow-laden landscape and frozen lakes make this place a perfect destination to indulge in snow activities like skiing and snowboarding. Adventure seekers can satiate their hunger for adrenaline rush by trekking on one of the many trails that become even more challenging during the season.

    • Not to Miss: Cable car ride

    2. Shimla-Kufri, Himachal Pradesh

    Shimla-Kufri

Shimla-Kufri is definitely among the most popular destinations in North India for people who like to experience snowfall. The capital city of Himachal is surrounded by rolling hills and snow-covered forests, which open the path for many adventure activities. Numerous restaurants lining the Mall road make for the perfect setting to enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas while sipping a cup of hot tea.

    • Not to Miss: Ice skating at the open-air skating rink

    3. Manali, Himachal Pradesh

    Manali

Towering mountains, deodar trees, winding roads and heavy snowfall; we are talking of India’s loved winter destination, Manali! Situated in Himachal Pradesh, this hill station is a paradise for snow lovers, honeymooners and adventure lovers. Auli

Want to learn skiing while magnificent peaks of Nanda Devi, Neelkanth and Mana Parbat are looking over you? Then, you must head to the best skiing destination of India – Auli! While it boasts of lush green valleys almost throughout the year, visiting this place in peak winters lets you see it in a completely different light. The landscape is covered with a thick layer of snow, numerous ski resorts dotting the region are bustling with holidaymakers, and adventure junkies are on their way to tame the snow-laden slopes.

    5. Binsar, Uttarakhand

    Binsar

Binsar is a lesser-known name when it comes to hill stations to visit in winters in India. But believe us when we say, it is one of the most spectacular places you will ever visit. It is a quaint little hill station in Uttarakhand that offers breathtaking views of cloud-touching Kedarnath, Trishul and Nanda Devi peaks, making it a photographer’s paradise. What makes this hill resort even more exciting is the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary where you can find an extensive variety of flora and fauna species.

    Dalhousie

Another hill station in Himachal Pradesh, but different from any other, Dalhousie is ideal for anyone who enjoys colonial charm. December sees a horde of trekking enthusiasts as Dalhousie hosts the National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition.

Xanax is well-recognized for relieving anxiety symptoms and treating panic disorders.

Xanax is not intended to be a sleep aid. Instead, sleepiness is one of its side effects, which might help you feel more exhausted at night and obtain deeper sleep. The problem is that Xanax is not a long-term insomnia solution.

Insomnia is commonly caused by anxiety and stress. The inability to settle your mind and body makes falling and staying asleep tough. When taken to treat anxiety or panic disorders, Xanax may unintentionally relieve sleeplessness symptoms.

In reality, Xanax has little effect on sleeplessness. It just freezes the symptoms, which will return after the medicine is stopped. There are numerous other, less addictive medicines and natural therapies available to treat insomnia.

In India, visiting mountainous areas during the winter is popular. Today I’ll tell you about several spots that aren’t conventional mountain areas but are worth seeing in the winter. Let’s get started.

    1. Munnar (Kerala)

Munnar, one of Kerala’s finest honeymoon locations, is a destination that can be visited any time of year. With temperatures as low as 11 degrees Celsius, winter in Munnar is ideal for sports such as hiking, rappelling, and rock climbing. Since many people travel to enjoy the mild winter weather at this time, you should book your lodgings well in advance.

Tourist Attractions: Anamudi, Devikulam, Mattupetty, TATA Tea Museum, and Eravikulam National Park.

    2. Wayanad (Kerala)

Wayanad is famous for some of Kerala’s most exciting treks and the finest time to go for trekking trails than the winter season itself. When you become tired of hiking in Kerala, you may refresh yourself with peaceful Ayurvedic treatments and massages. If you don’t want a hilly honeymoon, Wayanad is one of India’s most incredible winter tourist destinations.

Tourist Attractions: Meenmutty Waterfalls, Chembra Peak, Ghat View Point, and Edakkal Caves.

    3. Alleppey (Kerala)

Alleppey is famous for its traditional houseboat accommodations, Ayurvedic spas, and other attractions. Alleppey’s winters are ideal, owing to mild weather and yearly snake boat races. Alleppey is one of India’s top winter tourist destinations.

Tourist Attractions: Vembanad Lake, Marari Beach, Alappuzha Beach, Krishnapuram Palace, and Basilica of St. Mary, Champakulam.

    4. Puducherry

If you can’t get to France, you can always go to Puducherry, India’s colorful French colony. Pondicherry’s weather in December is excellent, making it one of the most incredible destinations in India. This is a busy tourist season, so make reservations early. It is undoubtedly one of the top winter destinations in India.

Tourist Attractions: Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Pondicherry Museum, and Puducherry Museum.

    5. Jaipur (Rajasthan)

Rajasthan’s capital is Jaipur, well known as the Pink City. Winter is pleasant in a typically sweltering city. Jaipur hosts many events, such as the Jaipur Literature Fest. Jaipur’s imperial splendor makes it one of the most fabulous winter destinations in North India.

Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, City Palace, and Jantar Mantar.

    6. Udaipur (Rajasthan)

Udaipur, traditionally known as the “City of Lakes,” is one of India’s most romantic places. The city contains magnificent palaces, and heritage houses converted into beautiful hotels and resorts. Udaipur is one of India’s most incredible destinations in December, thanks to its gorgeous landscapes made of lakes and hills.

    7. Jaisalmer (Rajasthan)

Winter is the best season to wander the desert and feel its beauty. The massive Jaisalmer Fort dominates Jaisalmer, often known as the Golden City, in the Thar Desert. In January, the Desert Festival in Jaisalmer is one of Rajasthan’s most anticipated celebrations. So take advantage of this chance. Because of its pleasant weather, Jaisalmer is one of India’s most spectacular winter destinations.

Tourist Attractions: Jaisalmer Fort, Bada Bagh, Folklore Museum, and Sam Sand Dunes.

    8. Hampi (Karnataka)

Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will take you back in time with its ancient wonders. This is an ordinarily hot area with ideal weather conditions in December and January, making it one of India’s top winter tourist destinations.

It also serves as the location for the Hampi Mahotsav in January. The festival highlights Karnataka culture with puppet plays, temple parades, sports, dance, music, and more, making it one of the top destinations to visit in South India during the winter.

Tourist Attractions: Jaisalmer Fort, Bada Bagh, Folklore Museum, and Sam Sand Dunes.

    9. Mysore (Karnataka)

Mysore, one of India’s most regal towns, captivates visitors with its famous palace. You should miss nothing on your tour of this charming city, from the stunning artwork to the mouth-watering Mysore Pak. Tourist Attractions: Mysore Palace, Mysore Zoo, Chamundeshwari Temple, and Jaganmohan Palace.

    10. Gangtok (Sikkim)

Gangtok is an excellent destination for a luxurious winter vacation in India. Gangtok is best visited at any time of year, thanks to its spiritual vista adorned with snow-capped hills and charming marketplaces, gondolas, and monasteries. On the other hand, winter scatters snow throughout the mountainscape, making it appear more attractive. As a result, this has to be one of the most excellent destinations in India during the winter.

Tourist Attractions: Rumtek Monastery, Pemayangtse Monastery, Nathu La, and Hanuman Tok.

    11. Rann Of Kutch (Gujarat)

Rann Of Kutch organizes the Rann Utsav, a spectacular white sand desert event, every year during the winter season, between November and February. The event highlights Gujarat’s unique appeal via cultural programs and native food. A beautiful beach, white salted scenery, and a full moon add to the allure. It is one of India’s favorite winter holiday locations since it offers a variety of activities, such as hot air balloon flights and camel rides.

Tourist Attractions: Mandvi Beach, cultural programs, and heritage tours.

    12. Lakshadweep

At Lakshadweep’s white sandy beaches, experience the characteristic island climate, splash in the turquoise sea, discover the spectacular coral reefs and enjoy a variety of water sports. Though it is a year-round tourism destination, its pleasant weather, especially during this season, makes it one of the top winter locations in India.

    13. Bodh Gaya (Bihar)

Bodh Gaya is frequently referred to as the Buddhist Mecca. Gautam Buddha got enlightenment here. The months of November and March are considered prominent.

Several Tibetan pilgrims visit Bodh Gaya around this period. In reality, the Dalai Lama calls this location from December to January. Though the temperatures are not below freezing, Bodh Gaya is one of the warmest spots in India in December. This is owing to its subtle yet potent atmosphere of peace and spirituality, particularly during the winter.

    14. Ooty (Tamil Nadu)

Ooty is a captivating hill resort in South India surrounded by the lovely Nilgiris. It is surrounded by a dense forest of Coniferous, Pine, and Eucalyptus trees, as well as several tea and coffee plantations. This was known as the Britishers’ summer retreat, and their legacy lives on in the shape of Stone House and St Stephen’s Church. This location, blanketed by a dreamlike mist, is one of the most significant spots to visit in South India for a strange holiday.

    15. Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh)

Lucknow’s culture and rich legacy have always captivated visitors worldwide. Lucknow’s atmosphere is often associated with great politeness, everyday habits, fantastic architecture, delicious food, and elegance.
