India is midway through its two-year term as an elected non-permanent United Nations Security Council representative. Russia has endorsed India and Brazil as “deserving candidates” for permanent membership in the UN Security Council, describing them as “important international actors.” However, US President Joe Biden supported India in becoming a permanent United Nations Security Council member.
During this speech, he talked about making Japan and Germany permanent members along with India. Apart from this, this time in the United Nations General Assembly, Russia has once again supported India to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The day will come when this issue will be resolved. India has been at the forefront of efforts to push for urgently overdue reforms in the Security Council at the United Nations. India has insisted that it deserves a seat as a permanent member of the Security Council.
