Learning via mobile apps is not the future. It is the present. Byju’s-the learning app’s success in India has set a mark that has disrupted the entire educational system. Apart from making an app that’s engaging and interactive, this e-learning app focuses and assures a comprehensive standard of education with simplicity, ease and effectiveness.

E-Learning mobile apps are the third most frequently installed apps on mobile phones and are expected to show significant growth in the next five years. According to statistics, the global market of e-learning apps was $165.36 billion in 2016 and is expected to go beyond $243 by 2022.

BYJU’s is the world’s most valuable ed-tech company with over 50 million registered students, 3.5 million paid subscribers and has more than $244 million funding. Launched in 2015, the BYJU’S app offers highly personalized and effective learning programs for classes 1 – 12 as well as test preps for competitive exams like JEE, IAS etc.

Functionalities to be included in an E- Learning App Portal:

Are you thinking of executing an E-learning app in the market?

To start with, first, you need to understand the concept of E-learning and also know the factors that decide the app development costs.

The key factors that affect the cost of an e-learning app like Byju’s are as follows:

    1. Research and idea:

When you have a product plan in mind, make sure you visualize the future of the end product in different dimensions like publicity, identity, multiplicity, communication, time, and price. You need to broadly understand what your product should be, like whether it’s an individual software product or broader educational system software. Either way, the concept has to be viable.

Performing significant research, brainstorming sessions, analyzing your niche and your target audience before getting into the next stage will help you stay ahead of market competition.

    2. Find the team:

To develop an e-learning mobile app, you would require the following set of professionals:

    • UX/UI Designers
    • Android/iOS Developers
    • Back-end Developers
    • QA Testers
    • Project Manager
    • Delivery Manager

If you don’t want to opt for an all-in-one solution, the best option is to hire qualified developers or a team.

    3. App Design:

With the exploding popularity of e-learning apps, eLearning services must keep their customers (students), engaged and a good UX design is at the forefront of that focus. An interactive design on an easy-to-use interface is one of the major reasons behind the success story of Byju’s app. So, go with a decent design that can capture the audience’s interest with bite-sized elements. A good design needs more investment, but in the long run, it offers several benefits.

    4. Mobile Platform (Android/iOS):

Determine which platform would work best based on your app idea and your target audience. How do you want people to access the content- smartphones or tablets? Android or iPhone? Comparatively, cross-platform app development might be a better option because you need not worry about the diversity of the supporting devices, or the availability of ready-made solutions and UI frameworks.

    5. Development:

Once the design is ready and the platform is decided, it’s time for the development process. The process starts with a conceptual phase followed by several stages of improvement, updates, testing, fixing of bugs, and additions of key functionalities.

    6. Features and Functionality:

Byju’s app consists of three different panels:

    1. Student’s panel
    2. Teachers panel
    3. Admin Dashboard

For each of these panels, you’d need to have a different set of features and functionalities depending on your app requirement.

    1. Student Panel:

The most accessed panel that is designed for students. Student panel features of Byju’s app are as follow:

    • Console Statistics
    • Account setting
    • Detail Professional Profile
    • Edit Account details
    • Video and Text chatting
    • Forgot Password

    3. Admin Panel:

A place to manage the users, the content etc. The main features of an admin panel are as follows: Badge Management

    • Location Support
    • Maintain the accounts
    • User management
    • Subjects Management
    • Premium subscription control
    • Transaction History
    • Content and multiple filters
    • Statistics & Ticketing
    • Customer Complaint Management
    • Discount and Promotional Offer Management

    7. Technology Stack:

An e-learning app like Byju’s will require various technology stacks to make the app functioning smoother and easier. For back-end & front-end development, there are several frameworks and programming languages that can be considered to make an app that works in both web and mobile platforms.

Here’s a quick sneak-peek of technologies used in the development of the eLearning app:

    • Front-end development: Angular, Next.js, React, Vue.js, Plotly. JavaScript (cross-platform)
    • Back-end Development: Node js, .Net, Python, Mongo (cross-platform)
    • For Android Development: Kotlin, Java (programming languages)
    • For iOS: Swift

The Cost of Developing an App like Byju’s:

The average development cost of an app like Byju’s per hour differs from region to region.

    • India –$18 to $60/hour
    • USA– $150 to $ 250/hour
    • Eastern Europe–$90 to $200/hour

Costs according to the processes involved are as follows:

    • Technical documentation- 42- 50 hours (average cost of $850 to $1800)
    • UI and UX design –70-80 hours (average cost $1,200 to $2,700)
    • Front and Back-end development –450 hours (average cost of $8000- $18,000)
    • Testing—80-85 hours (average cost of $1500 – $2800)

A reasonable app or a simple replica of Byju’s app with a limited number of features may cost up to $10,000 to $30,000 (if submitted to an Indian app development company) and the charges can extend up to $45,000 in case the app developed is feature-rich, complex and is driven by high-quality standards. The ultimate cost, however, may vary depending on the additional premium features.

I will give some background first.

There are 3 components of an application.

    1. Frontend: Facilitates user’s interaction with the application. Also called the client. When you use an Android app, an iPhone app, the website, or smart watch, you are “interacting with the application” via the frontend.
    2. Database: Stores all the data which can be “in any format”.
    3. Server: Provides data to the frontend from the database (and stores new data coming in from the frontend). Also, it is server’s job to verify the users and keep access to the data secure, among other things. Since the data can be “in any format”, the communication is done using a protocol. This enables the frontend to use and display the data as required.

Together, the database and the server are called the backend.

Example: Whether you login on Facebook using its Android app, iPhone app or whatever, the data stays the same. Further down the line, when the smart devices come into picture, they will use the already-existing interface with the backend to use and display the data as required.

Coming to your question, an Android app is the frontend of the application and has much less to do with scalability. There are n number of ways to develop a given type of frontend but its interaction with the backend remains more or less the same. Server needs to optimise the process of fetching/storing the data and the format of storing the data in the database is the key to scalability and speed.

Keep in mind that high-level decisions like this design are also the key to cost of the whole project, and may eventually contribute to the success/failure of the project.

While carrying out the process of mobile application development, software companies all over the world have the option of selecting from hundreds of libraries, tools, and frameworks. Despite the abundance of possibilities, React Native has quickly become one of the most popular solutions among corporate corporations and mobile app development firms.

The enormous benefits of React Native programming are the reason for its popularity! This framework has a lot to offer, from an easy learning curve to code re-usability, cross-platform development, high-speed development, community support, and the building of native-like apps. And, when it comes to technical features, React Native developer tools are a must-have. Some of the most important components of React Native App Development Services are these tools.

As a result, the focus of this blog is on the best React Native tools on the market. Almost every React Native app development business in the world uses them. Let us have a look at a few of them.

Apple’s integrated development environment (IDE) provides a number of software development tools for creating apps for iOS, MacOS, and other platforms. This is an excellent option for building robust React Native apps for iOS. It’s also a fantastic tool for iOS package debugging and installation. Apple recently released Xcode 12, which includes a slew of new features such as customizable font sizes for the navigator, new document tabs, a redesigned organizer, improved code completion, and enhanced auto-indentation, among others.

    Android Studio

This program enables React Native development for Android, as the name implies. The biggest update was Android Studio 4.1. The latest version of Android Studio includes features such as support for Kotlin DSL in the Android Gradle plugin, a newer database inspector, the ability to run an Android emulator inside Android Studio, a visual layout editor, a faster emulator, an APK analyzer, a flexible build system, a smart code editor, real-time profilers, and much more.

    Visual Studio Code

Visual Studio Code, a lightweight source-code editor released by Microsoft in 2015, is a powerful source-code editor. It is written in JavaScript, CSS, and TypeScript and is open-source and free to use. It is compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and others.

Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript are among the technologies supported by Visual Studio Code. It also has a large ecosystem of extensions that support languages like C#, C++, Python, PHP, Java, Go, and others. It also works with Unity runtimes.

    Redux

Redux is a JavaScript app created by Andrew Clark and Dan Abramov that was published in 2015. It’s an open-source tool for creating user interfaces that are often used with frameworks like React, Angular, and others. It’s a little utility, with a file size of less than 2kB, including dependencies. It facilitates the development of programmers that operate in a variety of settings, including native platforms, front-end, and back-end, and are simple to test. It also includes tools such as a time-traveling debugger and real-time code editing. As a consequence, React Native development services should strongly consider using this technology for their projects.

    React Native Tools

It’s also a Microsoft free product, although it’s more of a Visual Studio Code extension. This tool offers a welcoming environment for creating and debugging React Native projects. It is one of the greatest debugging tools since it allows you to debug styles in React Native as well as React components. Furthermore, it use a “command palette” to perform the react-native command.

Visit Hire React Native developers. Our Hire Dedicated React Native App Developers have a plethora of experience and are confident in their abilities to quickly handle complex application difficulties.

    React Native Debugger

This programmer functions as a stand-alone desktop application that works with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and other operating systems. When React Native devs are already using Redux, it’s arguably the finest debugging tool. It includes the usual React Developer Tools as well as Redux DevTools. This tool also allows you to change the UI and analyze React Native parts.

    React Navigation

React Navigation is written in JavaScript and is popular among developers because it allows them to create navigation and routes in native apps using navigators like as Drawer, Tab, Stack, and others. It’s a simple-to-use application with a lot of customization options and Extensible Platforms. It’s used to create visually appealing components for both Android and iOS.

    React Native CLI

React Native CLI is an MIT licensed utility that is the official CLI for the React Native framework. This utility offers an innovative approach to bootstrapping a React Native app from the command line. If a React Native developer wants to interact with the app’s native layer, this technique is necessary. It’s commonly used to automate processes like running the packager, connecting, and building applications, among other things. It’s also been known to be used as a debugging tool. Customizations are possible. It can, for example, be used to install a React Native project that has already been setup with a certain package, such as TypeScript, or even whole boilerplates.

    Final Words:

The React Native developer tools highlighted in this blog play an important part in not only creating engaging apps, but also in greatly speeding up the development process. These are some of the best tools available, and React Native developers should be familiar with at least the ones listed.
